pan Awarded Contract for U.S. Transportation Security Administration Federal Flight Deck Officer Program
July 25, 2005 – Performance Assessment Network, Inc. ("pan") world leader in online assessment and talent management, announced that it had been awarded a sole-source contract from the United States Transportation Security Administration (U.S. TSA) to provide managed Web services to the Federal Flight Deck Officer Project (FFDO). This program involves commercial airline pilots who volunteer to become deputized and to carry firearms on the flight deck of the aircraft. The FFDO force is now reportedly one of the largest law enforcement entities in the U.S.
According to pan CEO David T. Pfenninger, Ph.D., "The information technology infrastructure developed by pan under a previous contract is essential to all aspects of the FFDO program. This infrastructure was developed from scratch and is entirely customized to meet the unique needs of the FFDO program. It provides the means by which interested volunteers apply to the program, and enables them on a day-to-day basis to verify status, update status, and to identify any personal information required for training and deputation. In addition, this infrastructure provides the basis for the management and conduct of the entire selection process, including testing, psychological interviews, background investigations and training. pan is honored to serve the U.S. TSA and the FFDO program. Some of the most innovative human resource and assessment programs and technologies in the U.S. are being engineered by pan in close partnership with our FFDO colleagues. We look forward to continuing to define best-practices in Web-based selection and assessment with the U.S. TSA."
