While assessments can be used to assess job candidates before they are hired, there are also assessments designed to help current employees to identify their developmental needs and improve their skills. This Training and Development Test Selector is designed to help identify those assessments that might be used in this way.

The Training and Development Test Selector is based upon O*NET, a comprehensive database containing extensive information about the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (KSAOs) associated with a very broad range of occupations. Using this information, the competencies considered most critical in each job family were identified and then linked to the developmentally-based assessments in the pan catalog that best address them. The Training and Development Test Selector identifies tests that are suited for Individual Development as well as those that are suited for Team and Organizational Development.

The Training and Development Test Selector is simply a tool to help guide the identification of the tests which may be appropriate for a job class. However, as is the case when any assessment tool is used, it is the Test Administrator's ultimate responsibility to ascertain that an assessment is being utilized properly and measures job relevant skills and abilities.
